ARTIST BIOGRAPHYTopher Maka is a Pinoy-American painter living in Bernal Heights, San Francisco. Maka focuses largely on water-based painting and installations that act as consequences to current structural society and intends to impose a mutation. Maka fixates on foliage to operate as a lush bedding to delicate themes. His spirited illustrations emphasize cultural and human relation utilizing animals and nature as their distracting proxy. The jarring truths of his work are found in self-actualization and realization of given complex environments.
Maka acts as the manager and curator of the AS Art Gallery (non-profit) at San Francisco State University. He also works digitally in graphic design and print-based media. He frequently collaborates with local SF & Bay-Area artists, groups, and organizations from exhibiting, curation, and installation.
